STUDY SKILLS MODULE OVERVIEW

The Study Skills module is delivered across 6 weeks, one day on campus and one day online each week and designed to introduce students to the skills required for university study.

Module Aims:

  • To provide a coherent study skills course with Personal Development & Planning.
  • To introduce students to a range of skills appropriate to academic study and future employment.
  • To develop student skills in academic writing.
  • To encourage students to enhance their learning by engagement with feedback and reflection on learning activities.

Module learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate the use of a variety of learning strategies and techniques
  2. Retrieve literature-based information by identifying and locating key resources
  3. Apply revision skills and exam
Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes On completion, the student will have had the opportunity to:
  • Demonstrate academic writing skills and recognize how to avoid plagiarism through correct
  • Reflect on learning activities and feedback to identify and consolidate knowledge and understanding and for personal
  • Identify and apply skills and attributes appropriate to their subject discipline and future
  • Make use of basic and specialist IT software
